The new Board of Directors of Gold Coast Mac should be familiar to most members. All but one of the board was re-elected to new one year terms, in an election which saw the positions of President, Treasurer, and Secretary filled without opposition. Nine people were competing for eight directors slots.
Current President Dave Game was returned for a second term, after facing no opposition. Game announced before the election that if he was re-elected, this would be his fourth, and final, stint as President. Game also served two terms in the '80's. Elected along with Game were Secretary André Perwin and Treasurer TJ Carlon, who also faced no opposition.
In the contest for the Board of Directors, Incumbent Vice President Esver Camacho joined past president Rose Lynn as the two top vote getters, and thus, they will each serve one year terms as Vice Presidents. Sandy Medina was elected to her first term on the board, and will be joined by returning board members Jan Barkan, Guiseppe DiFranco, Rafael Marerro, Felicia Sternbach, and Jim Bolinger.
The results of the election, which was conducted by mail ballot, were announced by Past President Charlie Carlon, who will continue in that unelected board position for a second year. Founding Director Van Martin, who has an honorary permanent position on the board, rounds out the roster of voting members.
The election was announced following a brief ceremony, earlier in the evening, honoring the 2001-2002 board. President Dave Game presented each board member with a personal gift to show his appreciation, and then, with personalized certificates honoring each member for their service to Gold Coast Mac and the community. Game offered his personal thanks for the support and they had shown him over the past year, and for the hard work they had performed on behalf of members.
The tables were turned after the board was honored, when the board presented Game with their token of appreciation, a beautiful gavel in the shape of a candy-apple red Apple.
The new board officially takes office July 1st.
