A familiar face won a new role in the future of Gold Coast Mac, as frequent presenter Anthony Marino was the only new person elected to the 2004-2005 Board of Directors.
Marino was among 14 members competing for a spot on the board in the annual June balloting, and joins a host of incumbents who were returned to office.
Esver Camacho was elected President for a second term, no surprise since he ran without opposition. Treasurer TJ Carlon and Secretary André Perwin were also returned to office unopposed.
However, the competition for the directors post was anything but a foregone conclusion, as members were offered more than a dozen great choices.
Topping the balloting were incumbents Jim Bollinger and Rose Lynn, who will serve the coming year as Vice Presidents, the position awarded to those of the eight directors selected who tally the most votes. The remaining six directors elected, in alphabeti-cal order, are Charlie Carlon, Laura Coe, Giuseppe DiFranco, Orlando Luna, Anthony Marino, and Felicia Sternbach. All but Marino had served in the past board, and many are long time board members.
For the second year in a row, the annual election saw an impressive turnout of candidates, and unfortunately, not every one could be selected to serve. 2004 director Richard Lynn was not returned to office, and former board member Jan Barkan fell just short of regaining a position on the board. GCMac appreciates the candidacies of Marian Wertalka, Ron Bernstein, Dale LeCornu, and David Ertley, and the new board is expected to call upon their talents for projects in the year ahead.
The new board took office July 1st and has already held its first board meeting. Those elected in June will serve until June 2005.
