Reception for Diane Cohn at Orange Bowl Club
|
 |
About 75 members of Gold Coast Mac, with their friends and family, joined us for a reception in honor of Diane Cohn, manager of Apple's user group program.
We wanted to give our members, and representatives from other Florida user groups, a chance to meet Diane and network. In that, the evening was a great success.
The setting at the Orange Bowl Athletic Club, donated by the Orange Bowl Manager, was a great place to get together. The meal, provided by Catering by David Lynn, was outstanding. There were a ferw surprises as well, so browse through the photos and enjoy!

It was all about getting to know someone very important to Macintosh User Groups.
We'd invited our members, their spouses, the staff and management of our reseller partners, and representatives from other Florida user groups to meet Diane Cohn, manager of Apple's user group program. Until our get together, many of these people only knew Diane through e-mail.
Even though schedules required the reception to be held midweek, more than 75 people turned out!

While the reception was intended mostly as a thank-you for Diane and her tremendous efforts to rekindle the User Group spirit within Apple and the user community, it was also a chance for our members and the other user group representatives to bend her ear a little bit.

People got the chance to tell her what was on their mind about Apple, what they're doing right, and what could stand improvement.
It's the kind of access to the higher levels at Apple that most people don't get, but Diane was happy to listen and our members came away feeling they'd made a real connection. Sometimes, face to face chat is more satisfying than e-mail!

One of the goals of Gold Coast Mac is to better share the resources of the User Group community, which is why we invited members of other user groups. That's why we were so pleased that Broward's NatMac user group sent four representatives. We hope this is just the beginning of ways to work together.

One of the best things about Mac User Groups is their ability to cut across the generation gap.
GCM President Rose Lynn welcomed a group of people who used Macs by choice, ranging in age from the 70's...to one young Mac User barely out of diapers. Our members come from all walks of life, and represent a great cross section of Apple's user base.
The reception for Diane gave her a chance to gauge the feelings of that customer base, and also to get a first hand look at what Gold Coast Mac does for its members and for the community.
