Group Home teens are new iMac users
|
|
Being a Macintosh user doesn't mean you're just a taker.
Among the people meeting Diane were teens from two Group Homes for pregnant girls run by the Children's Home Society, including the home run by Janice Riggins.
That week, Gold Coast Mac had installed a new iMac for her girls, their first computer, and when they heard an Apple representative would be here, they all wanted to meet her. They also helped us show Diane what Gold Coast Mac is all about!

VP Dave Game presents Gold Coast Mac
membership to Janice Riggins.

GCM Vice President Dave Game welcomed the girls, explained the donation program, and then, fighting back a bit of a catch in his voice, read a moving letter of thanks composed by the teen mothers, one of the first projects completed on their new iMac. You could see people around the room dabbing at their eyes.
Dave called Janice to the podium for the second part of our donation, an honorary membership in Gold Coast Mac. And then, the girls gave us their gift!

The girls sang the song "My Life is in your Hands," fighting back tears as they overcame a bit of stage fright and the emotion of the moment. There were few dry eyes in the room by the end of the song, which brought our guests to their feet with applause. A splendid moment for everyone.

Diane leads a round of applause for Gold Coast Mac

When Diane said a few words, she talked a bit about Apple's view of user involvement as an important part of the Macintosh experience, and explained what the User Group-Apple parthership can mean for us all.
Then, she led a round of applause for Gold Coast Mac, praising our community programs, our innovative reseller partnerships, and the growing leadership role our group and its leaders are taking in the Macintosh User Community.
She summed it all up in one simple phrase: You guys ROCK!
