How GCMac can
"Mac a Difference!"

If you use a computer, you've probably had this happen: A new, faster model is introduced, and you decide to upgrade, leaving you with a perfectly usable, albeit slower, computer for which you paid a lot of money, but which you can no longer use.

Don't shove it in a closet! Help Gold Coast Mac "Mac a Difference" for needy community groups or not for profit organizations, by donating your older computer and peripherals to our computer refurbishment and donation program.

We accept donations of:

  • "PowerPC" class Macintosh computers,
  • Monitors (Apple and VGA/SVGA)
  • serial and USB printers
  • external SCSI hard disks
  • scanners
  • 56K modems
  • software (original copies with manuals)

Computers should be in working order or easily repairable, and all donations should include operating system disks, and necessary driver software. Manuals and cables would be very helpful.

Recipients must:

  • be community-Based, not for profit
  • be ;ocated within Miami-Dade, Broward, or Monroe County
  • Meet 501(c)(3) certification
  • Have an adequate physical location for the computer
  • be able to demonstrate a clear need for the computer and a plan for using it
  • be able to demonstrate financial need

Recipients will recieve;

  • A refurbished Apple Macintosh computer, of a type, size, and speed determined by Gold Coast Mac after assessing the organization's needs
  • Monitor (except in the case of 'all in one' type computers)
  • operating software
  • an "all in one" office suite (such as Appleworks)
  • additional appropriate software (as available)
  • a printer (ink-jet or laser, as available)
  • other accessories based on stated need and availability.

Gold Coast Members will:

  • deliver the system to a recipient's location
  • set it up
  • provide basic instruction
  • donate a free, one year membership to Gold Coast Mac in the name of the organization for needed technical support. Members are entitled to attend meetings, take part on special interest groups for training, and ask for volunteer tech support from members.

If you can donate equipment, or if you need to bring the power of computers to your organization, let GCMac "Mac a Difference." Please fill out and submit the form on this page, and we will contact you for the next step. Let's put those computers to work!
