Someone broke into the Church...
|
| This short film shows what happened to the church, and how the members of Gold Coast Mac were able to respond in time to make Christmas brighter. |
...and it came at the worst possible time, just as the congregation of Arch Creek Bible Chapel was preparing to open its heart for the holiday season. Thieves took sound equipment and other church supplies, and walked off with the Church's aging computer.
The audacity of the thieves was made clear when news reports of the theft revealed they brought a steak to the church and cooked it in the church's kitchen, before leaving with the equipment and the computer.
When the small congregation turned to the charitable organization Neighbors 4 Neighbors for help, the plea was broadcast on CBS4 News, and was heard by Gold Coast Mac. As part of its "Mac a Difference" program, GCMac accepts donations of late model (Power PC) Macintosh computers, refurbishes them, updates them, and makes them available to qualified community groups and not-for-profit organizatons which cannot afford computers. The short film presented here shows how Gold Coast Mac turned one of those donations into a holiday success story.
If you have a community group or not-for-profit organization in South Florida and need a computer, or if you have a PowerPC computer and/or peripherals to donate, please click here to learn more about our program.
The movie was produced and edited by Dave Game, using a Panasonic DV910 digital camera, completely in iMovie, with additional graphics produced in Adobe Photoshop 5.5. It was converted to quicktime using iMovie's export features, and then compressed using Cleaner 5 E-Z. It was edited on a G4 733 and mastered to DVD for public exhibition.
