Each year, we at Gold Coast Mac try to do something special for an organization in our community that needs our assistance. This year, weve selected Harbor House, a transitional housing program.
At our October 27th general membership meeting, we ask you to bring non-perishable foods to share with this very worthy organization. Mr. Pedro Martinez, executive director, will be there to accept our donations and to tell you briefly about the good work that they do.
Each person who brings a bag of food to donate will receive a special raffle ticket (only one of 12) for a drawing just for this event. I have been saving some retro Apple goodies just for such an occasion and they will be the prizes.
Additionally, the board voted to donate the balance of our accumulated computers to them, as Harbor House trains their clients on Macs to do word processing and spread sheets, so that they will be able to have some skills to seek employment. If you have any equipment in good working condition that you would like to donate, please bring it to that meeting as well. We are very short on monitors.
Harbor House is located at 420 N. W. 10th St. in Miami, and volunteers are welcome to call Pedro at (305) 371-0722 to discuss how you may be of further assistance.
