Renewing Pays Off as Member Wins an iBook

Ron Bernstein is one lucky guy.

He'd managed to miss a few meetings because of a change in his job, and because of that, he'd let his Gold Coast Mac membership lapse. In fact, he'd been lapsed long enough that he didn't even get a ballot in the June elections. He hadn't been by in so long, he hadn't purchased a ticket in the iBook raffle.

That all changed when he got an e-mail from GCMac President Dave Game, part of a gentle reminder to recently expired members that they were missing out, and giving the chance to get current. Ron was one of the members to take that chance to heart, and immediately renewed online. He also managed to make time for the June meeting, and while there, bought one of the few remaining tickets for the iBook raffle.

Like we say, Ron is a lucky guy.

Ron became the poster child for keeping your membership current when his ticket was the lucky winner pulled by VP Esver Camacho for the raffle of the iBook 10GB and case, becoming the lucky member to drive home with a new laptop on the seat next to him.

Ron couldn't believe the luck, telling Game "If you hadn't sent that e-mail, I wouldn't be here tonight!."

Ron wins a first generation snow iBook, with 64MB RAM, 10GB hard disk, and all the standard Apple ports. The prize also comes with a specially designed all weather case donated by MacCenter.

After the cost of purchasing the iBook, the sale of 150 $10 tickets raised $800 profit for Gold Coast Mac programs.
