Youve enjoyed their work in this site, and now one of the lucky writers for Tropical Mac has reaped a reward of his or her own -- a new iSight, courtesy of Computer Village, as a thank-you for helping to make your newsletter better.
Since January, each article contributed to Tropical Mac garnered the author one entry into a contest for an iSight worth almost $150. In all, 43 articles were contributed to the newsletter (and web site), some of which have yet to appear. Fifteen different contributors submitted articles and were in the running for the iSight.
GCMac Past President Dave Game merited the lion's share of entries, 22, or just over 50 percent of the articles submitted.
Each entry was assigned a number. Then one number was drawn at random by President Esver Camacho. The lucky winner? Dave Game! Having the most entries in the contest gave him the winning edge.
Twenty-two articles may sound like a lot, says Game. But whats impressive is the number of other folks who wrote for the newsletter. Weve heard voices weve never heard before. For the first time in years, I havent had to write virtually every newsletter article!
GCMac President Esver Camacho was second in the contribution race, with 5 articles. Rose Lynn, John Blakley, and Marian Wertalka each contributed two articles, and single contributions came from 10 others.
Support like this is critical to the success of the newsletter (and the web site). The GCMac board hopes members see the value of having diversity in the contents, and that they will continue to write and submit articles long after the prize is warded to one lucky winner.
