| If youve been considering the leap to Final Cut Express, but didnt want to spend the money because youd invested in Adobes Premiere editing software, Apple is offering you a deal.
Adobe announced earlier in July 2003 that it was abandoning development of Premiere for the Macintosh, saying its clear that Final Cut Pro has become the dominant video editing program on the Macintosh platform. Work will continue on the Windows version, for an environment with far fewer editing options, but the current version of Premiere will be the last for the Mac.
Seeing an opportunity, Apple is hoping to capture those orphaned Premiere users two free offers.
For every Premiere program CD you send in to Apple (with the appropriate forms) Apple will either send you a free copy of Final Cut Express, valued at $299, or will give you a $500 rebate on a qualifying Final Cut Pro purchase.
Apples terms dont specify a per-person limit. If you have 3 copies of a Premiere CD, im any version, with which you are willing to part, Apple will happily send you software or a check.
Full details and the needed forms are available at Apples website, www.apple.com/finalcut/offer/ .
