The first Southern Regional User Group Conference broke all attendance estimates, ended up in the black, and drew praise from the 24 user groups from the Southeast, which sent representatives to Atlanta to attend the three-day event.
Leaders from across the South met to share ideas, solve common problems, and learn from other user groups, in the event held under the auspices of the Association of Computer User Groups (APCUG).
Gold Coast Mac had a solid representation at the event, co-sponsoring an Apple User Groups breakfast, hosting an Apple booth at the Vendor Fair, and providing a third of the presentations for the weekend of roundtable discussions.
The GCMac contingent traveled to Atlanta on the MacBus, arriving in time to help with set-up for the opening session Friday, September 13th.
Making the 11-hour trip to Miami were board members Dave Game, Rose Lynn, Giuseppe DiFranco, Jim Bolinger, and Sandy Medina. Joining the board were members Gus Medina, Curt Herrin, and Richard Lynn. College student Ken Beresky was along as a guest.
The GCMac team took advantage of the long trip by working on the weekends presentations, burning 50 CDs for presentation packets to be used in Dave Games User Group video presentation, and creating a complete Powerpoint presentation for Rose Lynns presentation on working with vendors and resellers.
