| When you want to thank someone for a great job, its tough to find a better was than with ribs, coleslaw, and margaritas on tap, the highlights of the final meeting of the 2002-2003 GCMac Board of Directors.
Despite a drenching thunderstorm which had people lunging for umbrellas, members of the outgoing Board joined candidates for the 2003 election at the home of outgoing President Dave Game for their final board meeting for this group of leaders. Game gave the barbecue both to thank the outgoing board for a year of outstanding service to Gold Coast Mac, and to give candidates for the new board a chance to meet and talk with their counterparts.
As thunder boomed and the patio sluiced water, board members and candidates dug into ribs and chicken, as well as Italian sausage, bratwurst broiled with beer, and kosher dogs cooked by Game on the grill.
Board members filled in the holes with a host of fixings, and smart people made room for Games home-made Key Lime pie, as well as board candidate Laura Coes outstanding chocolate cake.
Fueled by beer and margaritas, a brief final board meeting marked the end of this groups service to Gold Coast Mac, followed by an evening of adult conversation and adult beverages.
Making the evening possible were Games wife, Mary Ann, and JoAnne Barkan, wife of outgoing board member Jan Barkan, who donated their time to help organize the food. JoAnne even took a soggy turn as Valet, donning a yellow rain slicker and umbrella to help people through the downpour to their cars.
