First, let me send kudos of the highest rating to Jeanette Lawrence, Adam Glass and Dr. Raul Salazar for an exemplary conference (www.techgalaxy.org). It was professionally handled in every way, well organized and a clean, convenient venue. They did all of this in just 6 weeks and I have to say that if they have a year to plan the next one, just watch for fireworks!
Esver Camacho (president, Gold Coast Mac) and I represented Gold Coast Mac, and presented two sessions about user group leadership. Our sessions were not particularly overflowing with attendees but those who were there enjoyed our presentations and took home a great learning experience. We did however make some good contacts for possible members and sold a number of our L E D Badges. All in all, I would have to say our nine hours were well spent this Saturday!
I represented the Florida Association of Computer User Groups and the Association of Personal Computer User Groups and was happy to have made some new friends with interest in joining those groups. It is a pleasure to make new friends and share new ideas.
Orlando Luna (www.lunastudio.com) and Marian Wertalka (webmistress for Gold Coast Mac) supported us and represented the Final Cut Pro Users Group (www.fcutpro.com) and seemed to have a constant flow of interest all day. Orlando presented three sessions (GO Orlando) and the buzz about Final Cut Pro and the Macintosh was all good.
A number of our members were there to enjoy the day and their reports were good. We appreciated your support. We cannot say great things about what we do without thanking Christina (Esvers lovely wife). I think Ive spent as much time with Esver doing usergroupie things this month than Christina and Dave Game even got a crack at a day with Esver. The significant others of our board members and volunteers are real troupers! Thanks!
LEADERSHIP was the operative word for the day and weve certainly done THAT in March 2004!
