Steve Wozniak, co-founder of Apple Computer, and designer of the first personal computer, spoke about his life and experiences during the computer revolution at Woz at the Shore, a public event at Nova Southeastern University at 6 p.m. on Sunday, November 14, 2004. Wozniak graciously agreed to extend a South Florida trip to speak at this event.
Prior to Woz's talk, there was a networking hour with refreshments in the atrium of the adjacent Carl DeSantis building. Tables were staffed by members of all the technology user groups in the region. Gold Coast Mac was one of several local user groups with a table. Our table included a display with Esver Camacho's Apple IIgs, and also the glowing new iMac G5 which was raffled off at the Holiday meeeting. GCM's sister user group, South Florida Final Cut Pro User Group, was also be there. Many members, both old and new, stopped by to say hello.
An Apple iPod Mini music player was raffled off at the event. Only people attending Wozniak's talk were eligible to enter the drawing, and you had to be present to win. JHL Technologies donated the iPod Mini to raise awareness about the free Tech Galaxy user group conference they are co-sponsoring in April 2005.

Wozniak designed the Apple I and II computers, and along with Steve Jobs founded the Apple Computer corporation. He is the only person to ever design both the hardware and software for a computer platform that became commercially successful, and he is a strong advocate for using computers in education. Mr. Wozniak was awarded the National Medal of Technology by President Ronald Reagan in 1985, and is the recipient of numerous additional honors.
